Round 3 vs Thames
After dropping both matches in week 1, it was a tough assignment up against the unbeaten Thames side. Jethro & Jason were in close matches with both games going 18. Jason got his nose in front to win 1 up and Jethro finished all square. After taking tips from the pros 2 weeks ago, Murray Fraser was quietly confident batting at number 4. His confidence was justified with a solid win. Deane Tetley showed what a great team man he is by leaving Auckland at 4am to beat the curfew so he could play on Sunday. Unfortunately he came up short. At number 2, John Libby had a rough start and was quickly 3 down after 3. From there he settled down and grinded his way back into the match and finished with a birdie on 17 to win 2/1. Lincoln Drent played solid golf all day and led from start to finish for a comfortable 3/2 win.
Final score Waihi 4.5 – Thames 1.5
Round 4 vs Whangamata
A tough outing in the heat as the effects of climbing the undulating hills started to wear down the Waihi lads. Jason Baldwin battled to the end and went down on 18. Jethro had his first loss of the year. Murray Fraser continued his solid form and after a clutch hole out from off the green on 16 held on for a 1 up win. Deane Tetley played the best golf of the day and was under the card when he lost 3/2. Libby & Drent failed to maintain their form from the morning and were dispatched 3/2 and 5/4 respectively.
Final Score Waihi 1 – Whangamata 5
Next Round: 14 March at Pirongia vs Pirongia, then Ngaruawahia
